How to MAKE Your Ideas Happen!
Sep 15, 2023I have a coaching client that is in the process of writing a book. He has an incredible story, and he is starting to feel Pulled to tell that story. He mostly wants to do it to show his kids how God has moved in his life and helped him teach them all he has learned.
The only reason I know about him or this book he wants to write is because he followed a Pull and acted on it. He didn't ignore it, he didn't shove it down, he started to go through a process. I don’t think he knew he was going through this process, but he was.
He started to capture some ideas, then he told one of his friends, his friend knew about me and my coaching. We connected and he learned some things he needed to know, now he has a plan and is in the process of tracking and executing it.
I call this the CREATE Framework.
Here is how it works to help YOU make YOUR ideas happen!
- C - Capture: Write down your idea in a journal and pray about it.
- Whatever your idea is, whether to write a book, start painting, build a business, or start a book club at your work, take 15 minutes, put on some music (Here is my suggestion), pull out a journal and write out your actual desires to God. Be specific and DO NOT JUDGE YOUR WRITING. ASK YOUR EDITOR TO LEAVE YOU ALONE!
- Here is an example: "Father, I feel something inside of me stirring, I don't know if it is you or just me, but I want to write a book. There is a story inside of me brewing that I want to tell. I want it to bless my family and help others see what you have done in my life..." Then keep writing...

- R - Relay: Share your idea with some other "safe" people.
- There is power in saying what your dreams and desires are to someone else. Make sure to pick someone who will be encouraging to your idea. Some people aren't encouragers and will tell you all the problems, you don't need that quite yet. So, find someone who will help fuel your fire. Start to talk about what your vision is. That will feel really big, but once you start to say it out loud it starts to actually sound possible. Then your friends will have it in their minds too.
- E - Educate: Get some help.
- Who do you know that does this already? Who has done it before? Take them to lunch and write down everything they say. Take it in. Do they offer coaching in this area? Who is someone who can help you make this idea happen. Would they be able to meet regularly and help keep you accountable? Are there books to read or classes to take to teach you what you need to know?
- A - Act: Make a 3-month plan.
- Write out a statement that says what you actually want to have happen over the course of the next 3 months. For example: By December 31st I will have a plan for how I will write this book in 2024.
Then under that write the 3 to 4 small steps you need to figure out that plan.
For example:
1. Find a coach or mentor.
2. Start writing a blog 3 times a week.
3. Find 3 people who have written books and have coffee with them.
- Write out a statement that says what you actually want to have happen over the course of the next 3 months. For example: By December 31st I will have a plan for how I will write this book in 2024.
- T - Track: Once you have your plan, continuously track your progress weekly and check off the items you complete.
- E - Evolve: Proverbs 16:9 says, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps." As you start down this path your plans will change, be open to where it goes, but don't give up, adjust.
Breaking your ideas down into this framework helps make something that feels huge manageable and possible!
So, is there an idea you can use this framework to help you make it happen?
I'd love to hear from you!
